KAHAWAI CLASSIC 2024 RULES & INFORMATION

Date/Time:

Fishing Starts 12.00pm Friday 11th October 2024 and ends 12.00pm Sunday 13th October 2024

Entry Fees:

Senior MEMBER Tickets $40.00, Senior NON MEMBER Tickets $50.00, Junior & Small Fry MEMBER Tickets $10.00, Junior & Small Fry NON MEMBER Tickets $15.00Junior under 16yrs, Small Fry under 8yrs as of the 1st July 2024

ALL MEMBERS AND NON MEMBERS WELCOME.

Weigh-in:

Weigh-in open from 4pm to 5pm Saturday 12th October 2024 & 11am to 1pm Sunday 13th October 2024.

No fish shall be weighed after this time unless there is a queue and the contestants have reported in person to  the weigh-in registration point prior to cut off time. The weighmasters decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. ALL fish must be presented in a fresh state.

NOTE: IF A KAHAWAI IS DISQUALIFIED FOR ANY REASON, THEN THAT PERSON CANNOT ENTER ANOTHER IN ITS PLACE. YOU WILL NOT GET A SECOND CHANCE.

Prizegiving:

Prizegiving is held at the Houhora Big Game & Sportsfishing Club rooms 5.00pm Sunday 13th October 2024.

ANY and ALL contestants must be there in person to accept ANY prizes (cash prize, spot prize, major prize). Prizes will be re-drawn if not collected after name and ticket number called 3 times. Fish Limit - 2 fish per ticket, per day.

ALL anglers must have purchased their ticket by 5.00pm Thursday 10th October 2024.

NO ticket refunds or name change after 5.00pm Wednesday 9th October 2024.

NO fishing in marine reserves.

In the event of any disputes, the decision of the organizers or Club Committee shall be final. The Committee shall have the right to alter, delete, or add to the rules as it may deem necessary in the interest of club and competition. Contestants enter the competition at their own risk. The organizers and sponsors accept no responsibility for any loss, damage or personal injury incurred.

Houhora Big Game & Sportsfishing Club Members are encouraged to weigh fish for end of year club trophies, but fish must be caught in line with HBGSFC and NZSFC Rules.

Fishing Area:

The fishing area is within the GRID. The boundaries of our grid are on a line from the Hokianga Harbour (North Head) around Cape Reinga to Whangaroa Harbour (North of Flat Island) and includes the Three Kings Islands. NO fishing outside these points. (Grid available on our website).

Prize Sections:

Prize Section are as follows:

Senior Section 1st 2nd 3rd heaviest Kahawai.

Junior average 1st 2nd 3rd.

Small Fry average 1st 2nd 3rd.

In the event of any kahawai being the same weight, the prize will be split evenly.

Average Weight Prize:

To calculate the average weight prize(s), the weights of all kahawai in each section will be tallied and averaged. The angler with the fish closest to this calculated weight will be deemed winner. If more than one fish is equally close to the calculated weight, the prize will be split evenly. The Committee reserve the right to refuse a Team or Participants from entering this or future competitions.
